A Reflection on Yoga

Happy International Yoga Day!

I am just coming out of Sunday Service Yoga; one of my favorite parts of the week.

It is my space to turn inward, connect with community, and reconnect with the essence of yoga. A space to chant mantra, move my body, soften the noise of my mind, and drop into the magic of simply being. A space to pour into me in preparation for a week of pouring into clients.

Yoga has been a foundational part of my adult life.

I first found yoga when I was 21. At the time, I was craving something more. I felt curious about myself and knew that the way I was showing up in life didn't feel good or aligned. Then yoga (and hiking) found their way into my life.

For the first time, I felt connected to something bigger than myself while also feeling more connected to myself. It marked the beginning of a relationship with my body and the beginning of a spiritual practice.

Early in my yoga journey, I still struggled with dissociation, though I would not have had the language to name it as that at the time. I wasn't really sure where my body was in space, struggling with cues or how to really be in a pose. I often lived in my head, disconnected from the present moment.

Over the years, yoga and therapy helped me slowly build awareness, connection, and trust in my body. They helped me return to the present moment again and again.

Years later, I found the studio where I currently practice. This place felt safe. Safe to be vulnerable, to cry, to be imperfect, and to curiously learn. It was the first place where the cues truly helped me notice the subtle relationships between my bones, muscles, breath, and movement. Something shifted.

Yoga became so much more than a physical practice.

It became a way of life. Last year, I completed my 200-hour teacher training at my home studio, furthering my understanding of yoga and what it truly is beyond the physical practice.

The philosophy, the mindfulness, the self-study, the relationship with breath, all of it began to shape how I moved through the world. It continues to guide both my personal life and my work as a therapist. I further recognized how interconnected yoga, psychology and therapy are.

It is also why I often encourage clients to explore yoga.

Not because they need the perfect downward dog or because they need to master advanced poses. Though the physical practice can be fun and rewarding, and that is not what keeps me returning to the mat.

What keeps me returning is the opportunity to connect.

To breathe.

To notice.

To be present.

TO FEEL.

Through the practice of asana (the physical practice), we learn how to relate to ourselves differently. We practice awareness, compassion, resilience, and curiosity. Over time, what happens on the mat begins to influence how we show up off the mat.

Today, I feel grateful for the wisdom, philosophy, and practices that have been passed down through generations of teachers. I feel grateful for the privilege of engaging with yoga in the way that I do and for the teachers who continue to share their knowledge so generously.

And I feel grateful that I now get to share some of these teachings with others.

To pay it forward.

To support those navigating trauma, dysregulation, grief, stress, perfectionism, and the many challenges of being human through the wisdom and healing that can be found within this practice.

As I left class today, I found myself reflecting on how different my life might have been had I never stepped into that first yoga class at 21.

I am grateful that I was willing to be a beginner.

May we all find the courage to be beginners at something.

Because sometimes the practices that shape our lives most profoundly begin with a single curious step, and their wisdom continues to unfold years later.

If you're curious about exploring yoga beyond the physical practice, yoga therapy may be a supportive place to begin.

Yoga therapy weaves together movement, breath, mindfulness, and nervous system regulation practices to support greater connection with yourself and the present moment. Whether you're navigating stress, trauma, anxiety, grief, or simply longing to feel more grounded in your daily life, yoga offers tools that can be carried far beyond the mat.

Our doors opened on January 1, 2026; it is hard to believe we are already almost six months into the birth of Rhythm. What a blessing this journey has been, from the challenging moments to the rewarding ones, and all those in between. I am so deeply grateful to our community for their trust and support along the way.

This space and practice are something I have been dreaming of for nearly a decade. It is the culmination of the healing spaces and professionals that have nurtured me along my journey. Grounded in the wisdom of my mentors, healing professionals & education. My hope is that it can feel like a retreat, a cocoon, and a place to cultivate safety as you settle into the home that is you.

My soul's purpose has been the ever-changing rhythm of discovering and returning to my authenticity. My professional mission is supporting other women and humans in this process. To know the beauty of living in our true essence without the armor, without fear running the show, and with increased comfort, confidence, and safety to be the raw, unique, and only you.

I specialize in working with high-functioning women who feel stuck, blocked, disconnected, or caught in a rut. Maybe you have insight and awareness but feel unsure how to step into the life you desire. Maybe you are navigating unexpected life changes, grief, transitions, or experiences that have left you feeling disconnected from yourself and uncertain about how to move forward.

My belief is that therapy can be supportive through every season of life. We do not have to be in crisis or deep struggle to benefit from it. Therapy can be a space to support the goals, growth, and changes you are taking on. A place to soften, set down what you have been carrying, and allow yourself to be held and supported along the way.

I specialize in a somatic approach to therapy. Soma meaning body. This style of therapy brings the mind, body, and nervous system into the therapeutic process. Together, we explore what your body may be communicating and how to support your system in ways that feel aligned and sustainable.

I approach therapy through an adaptive lens, where curiosity and compassion are at the forefront of our work. Rather than asking, "What's wrong with me?" we begin to explore, "How has this made sense?" and "What might my system be trying to communicate?"

I utilize therapeutic approaches such as EMDR, somatic parts work, Polyvagal Theory, yoga therapy, nature therapy, CBT, and Reiki. My aim is to support individuals in understanding the experiences that have shaped them, developing the capacity to be with discomfort when it arises, building trust in themselves, and creating the regulation needed to move toward the most authentic version of who they are.

At Rhythm, I believe healing is not about fixing yourself. It is about reconnecting with yourself. It is about creating enough safety to listen, enough compassion to understand, and enough trust to move forward in alignment with who you are and how you want to show up in the world.

A recent mantra I have been living by:

Activation is here.

Discomfort is here.

And I am still here too.

For me, this is the heart of the work. We are not working toward eliminating discomfort, but rather developing the capacity, trust, and safety to remain connected to ourselves when it arises.

My practice is based in the beautiful beach town of Jupiter, Florida. I work with clients both in person and virtually throughout Florida.

Not local but curious about working together in person? I also offer therapeutic intensives in a destination-style format. These experiences provide dedicated time and space for deeper therapeutic work while supporting nervous system regulation, reflection, and integration. Spend time in the beautiful Palm Beaches while intentionally investing in your healing and growth.

This work is one of the greatest gifts of my life. It is an honor to walk alongside clients as they navigate some of the most vulnerable moments of their journey and to witness their life force, resilience, and authenticity emerge along the way.

~ With care & compassion,

Sarah Menniti, LMHC | Founder
